My body is mine, “No” means “No,” and only “Fuck Yeah!” means “Yes!” But in real life, even well-meaning approaches like these can sometimes trip us up. Sometimes they even get in the way of our feminist goals. So where does consent (not) help us, why, and what else do we need?
Make yourselves comfortable in the interactive installation designed by luhmen d'arc. Here you have the opportunity to take your time and immerse yourselves in various case studies—their ambivalence and gray areas will make you think, might even catch you off guard—no judgment!—and will spark your creativity because there are no one-size-fits-all answers. Contradictory dynamics of empowerment and power, as well as the unconscious and the somatic, must be taken seriously. For example, what should I reveal about myself to meet the requirement of informed consent? How do I distinguish uncomfortable feelings that serve our development from those that indicate toxic transgression? To what extent do consensus negotiations protect perpetrators from being held accountable? Is a safe space primarily one where we always know what is happening, or one where we can engage with the unpredictable and the eventful?
