My body belongs to me, “No” means “No,” and only “Fuck Yeah!” means “Yes!” In real-life experience, however, we sometimes stumble when applying these and similar well-intentioned approaches. Sometimes they even get in the way of our feminist goals. So where does consensus (not) help us, why, and what else is needed?
Make yourselves comfortable in the interactive installation designed by luhmen d'arc. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to take your time empathizing with various case studies—their ambivalences and gray areas will make you think, might even catch you off guard at times—no judgment!—and will spark your creativity because there are no one-size-fits-all answers. Contradictory dynamics of empowerment and power, as well as the unconscious and the somatic, must be taken seriously. For example, how much should I reveal about myself to meet the requirement for informed consent? How do I distinguish between uncomfortable feelings that serve our development and those that indicate toxic abuse? To what extent do consensus-building processes protect perpetrators from being held accountable? Is a “safe space” primarily one where we always know what’s happening, or one where we can open ourselves up to the unpredictable and the unexpected?
