TEMPLES OF SORROW is a series of events for collective mourning.
As the year draws to a close and in keeping with the winter solstice, we’re hosting another evening event to mark the occasion. This time, the event focuses on the end of the year and is less of a traditional mourning ritual and more of a creative opportunity to find closure as the year comes to an end—and perhaps, for some, a chance to take a moment for themselves before the holidays begin.
What was, what is, what's to come?
As the new year approaches, along with the holidays and the longest night of the year, we invite you to: “Take a little break from the hustle and bustle, treat yourself to a moment of quiet, and join us in reflecting:What has been? What is? What lies ahead?”
After the winter solstice, the days begin to grow longer again, and darkness slowly gives way to light. It’s a good reason to come together and, during this special moment of transition, take a deep breath, settle in, and let our imaginations run wild while we reflect.
What can you expect? Movement, conversation, music, stories, and above all, lots of creativity! We’ll tear, cut, glue, layer, write, draw, and create collages—a colorful interplay of images, thoughts, and feelings. It’ll be both slow and fast. A little tearing marathon and timed writing, as well as a gentle, slow journey through the months and seasons.
We’ll bring plenty of supplies, but if you have any pictures, newspapers, scissors, glue, or pens of your own, feel free to bring them along—and your calendar or journal, too, if you’d like.
We're meeting on Friday at 6:00 p.m., but you're welcome to arrive as early as 5:30 p.m. and get settled in. Light snacks and tea will be provided, but if you'd like more, please bring your own.

NOTES ON THE EVENT
The goals of our events are collaborative learning within the group, supporting shared processes, and personal development. Couples and all other types of partnerships or group dynamics are welcome, but you should be aware and open to the fact that the courses are not designed as partnership experiences and that we address each person as an individual. For example: To involve all participants equally, we usually work with random partner combinations during the exercises. This means that both same-sex and opposite-sex combinations will occur. Participants should generally be open to working with every person and every body. Exceptions can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
Gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or membership in marginalized groups such as BBIPoC, migrants, refugees, LGBTQIA*, people with disabilities, etc., are not criteria for registration or participant selection.
We expect you to act with care, be communicative, prioritize consent, and be mindful, and we encourage you to respect your own boundaries and take personal responsibility.
Hate speech will not be tolerated. Please bring "Candy Speech" with you.
We reserve the right to ask participants to leave the workshop if their behavior is hurtful or problematic, and we reserve the right to do so without explanation—though we will likely try to explain it. Workshop fees would then be refunded in full. Any further claims are excluded.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations are free of charge up to eight weeks before the course begins; a cancellation fee of 20% of the course fee applies up to four weeks before the course begins, and a cancellation fee of 50% applies up to two weeks before the course begins. Later cancellations and refunds of course fees are not possible. However, participants may find replacement participants to take their reserved spots. If the organizer cancels the course, the full course fee will be refunded. No further claims are permitted.
