QUEER BONDAGE JAM ZURICH – with a Newbie Intro

  • serrat(u)s bodywork – Zurich 40 Zwinglistrasse Zurich, ZH, 8004 Switzerland (Map)

Attendance at the NEWBIE INTRO is mandatory for anyone attending the QUEER BONDAGE JAM for the first time – regardless of whether they are already familiar with bondage jams in general! Tickets for the Intro and the Jam must be booked separately. –

Bondage games all too often take on heteronormative forms—which is fine, but we want to try something different and see how we can get creative with it.

"Queering"—as a verb—refers to the joy of engaging with a whole spectrum of activities: questioning, refreshing, making visible, playing, unsettling, celebrating, experimenting, fluidifying, encouraging, expanding, inventing, showing solidarity, blending, standing by oneself, appropriating, becoming, transforming...

That’s why, at the QUEER BONDAGE JAMS, we want to give creativity more room to flourish by setting aside time at the start of each event—after the Newbie Intro, at 3 p.m.—for someone with a creative mind to inspire others with queer, creative, and artistic ideas related to bondage.

May something fabulous happen!

And here’s some more general information about bondage…

The Japanese art of bondage is a fascinating physical practice that offers a wide range of physical, mental, and emotional experiences. Shibari shares many similarities with dance, yoga, and meditation, possessing both a performative and a deeply moving aesthetic dimension. The binder and the bound can shape their encounter in many ways—through a trusting interplay of power and submission, empathetic communication and mutual devotion, and deep connection and intensity. An exciting physical art form well worth exploring!

Anyone who’d like to tie others up, share ideas, or simply watch and gain some initial experience is warmly invited. The space is equipped with suspension points—some of which use bamboo poles—so that suspension play is also possible.

We welcome everyone, from curious visitors to professionals.

NEWBIE INTRO

FURTHER INFORMATION

ENTRANCE

Admission to the WINTA JAM and the QUEER BONDAGE JAM is limited to specific entry times. The doors are only open during the times listed above. Entry is through the garden and the large red door leading to the studio. Please remove your shoes outside and take them, along with all your belongings, through the studio into the kitchenette and changing room. Only bring into the studio the items you actually need for bondage. Drinks are permitted in the studio only in sealable bottles.

DRESS CODE

Rope bondage is bodywork with close body contact and at a bondage jam the atmosphere is a very important aspect. Already for hygienic reasons, but also for aesthetic considerations, we ask you not to participate in street clothes. We recommend at least yoga-style clothing, but even better: it can also be more fanciful, maybe fantastic or weird weird or in your own particular way comfortable – there are no further restrictions to your well-being and creativity. It's also nice to feel the ropes on your skin, therefore clothing is generally optional.

MATERIAL

Please bring all the materials you need for bondage yourself—ropes, safety scissors/cutters, carabiners, and rings. There are always one or two bamboo poles hanging on site. We also have a few practice ropes for beginners. However, everyone should generally have their own equipment.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE EVENT

The goals of our events are collaborative learning within the group, supporting shared processes, and personal development. Couples and all other types of partnerships or group dynamics are welcome, but you should be aware and open to the fact that the courses are not designed as partnership experiences and that we address each person as an individual. For example: To involve all participants equally, we usually work with random partner combinations during the exercises. This means that both same-sex and opposite-sex combinations will occur. Participants should generally be open to working with every person and every body. Exceptions can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

Gender identity, sexual orientation, age or membership of often marginalized groups such as BBIPoC, migrants, refugees, LGBTQIA*, disabled people, etc. are not criteria when registering and selecting participants. This means that, in principle, everyone is equally welcome and we endeavor to do justice to the respective constellation and different needs, but our resources are limited. If you have any questions in this regard, please contact us.

We expect you to act with care, be communicative, prioritize consent, and be mindful, and we encourage you to respect your own boundaries and take personal responsibility.
Hate speech will not be tolerated. Please bring "Candy Speech."
We reserve the right to ask participants to leave the workshop if their behavior is hurtful or problematic, and we reserve the right to do so without explanation—though we will likely try to explain. Workshop fees would then be refunded in full. Any further claims are excluded.

You can read more about this topic here.
