Shibari - Kinbaku

The art of tying up bodies with ropes is a fascinating practice. Shibari or Kinbaku - as rope bondage is called in Japanese - has a lot in common with dance, yoga and meditation and offers a wide range of intense physical, mental and emotional experiences. Shibari is probably one of the most diverse and, in its performative and aesthetic dimension, also one of the most visually appealing practices in the field of BDSM. Shibari is increasingly being recognized beyond the erotic scene as an art and performance form in its own right.

The workshop series

The 5 parts of the SHIBARI BASICS series - the INTRO DAY, the FLOOWORK I & II and PARTIAL SUSPENSION I & II workshops complement each other and it makes perfect sense to attend them in this order. But it doesn't have to be. You can also start with FLOORWORK II or PARTIAL SUSPENSION I - even as a beginner - if you attend the INTRO DAY on the previous Friday. You can still catch up on the other workshops. The only exception is PARTIAL SUSPENSION II, which requires either attendance of PARTIAL SUSPENSION I (or comparable knowledge) or a combination of basic knowledge from attending an INTRO DAY or FLOORWORK course and the CHEST HARNESS & SUSPENSION LINES - PREPARATION & REPETITION workshop.

PARTIAL SUSPENSION I & II

While in the floorwork courses—such as SHIBARI BASICS – FLOORWORK I & II – we stay on the carpet, but inShibari Basics – Partial Suspension I & II we lift offa little.

In Japanese-inspired bondage art, there is hanging bondage, in which the bound person is pulled up and suspended from a hook on the ceiling or a beam using ropes. This requires a great deal of skill and looks spectacular, but it also offers a special sensual experience, which we will explore in this course with partial suspensions. We teach the basic technical knowledge and discover the restrictive, playful, and aesthetic potential of this form in various exercises and bondage patterns—bondage play in a new dimension.

The PARTIAL SUSPENSION II workshop requires participants to have attended PARTIAL SUSPENSION I ( or have comparable knowledge) or to have acquired basic knowledge by attending an INTRO DAY or FLOORWORK course and the CHEST HARNESS & SUSPENSION LINES – PREPARATION & REPETITION workshop on the previous day.

FURTHER INFORMATION

NOTES ON THE EVENT

Singles as well as couples and all other constellations can register.

There is switching, i.e. the exercises are repeated so that all participants experience both being tied up and being tied up. Couples who do not wish to switch can remain in a fixed role allocation. Please let us know when you register if this is the case.

The aims of our events are to learn together as a group and to support joint processes as well as personal development. Couples and all other types of partnerships or constellations are welcome, but you should be aware and open to the fact that the courses are not designed as partnership experiences and that we address each person as an individual. For example, in order to include all participants equally, we usually work with random partner combinations in the exercises. This means that there will be both the same and different gender combinations. Participants should generally be open to working with any person and any body. Exceptions can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

Gender identity, sexual orientation, age or membership of often marginalized groups such as BBIPoC, migrants, refugees, LGBTQIA*, disabled people, etc. are not criteria when registering and selecting participants. This means that, in principle, everyone is equally welcome and we endeavor to do justice to the respective constellation and different needs, but our resources are limited. If you have any questions in this regard, please contact us.

We expect you to be careful, communicative, consent-oriented and mindful, and we encourage you to respect your own boundaries and self-responsibility.
Hate speech will not be tolerated. Please bring "candy speech".
We reserve the right to ask participants to leave the workshop should their behavior be hurtful or too problematic, and we reserve the right to do so without explanation - although we will likely try to explain. Workshop fees would then be refunded in full. Further claims are then excluded.

You can read more about this topic here.

PRICES AND IF SOLD OUT

This event takes place under special conditions, we want to make it as inclusive as possible. Therefore, there is no fixed price for the workshop that has to be paid in addition to the registration fee.
We let you decide how much you can and want to give for your participation - taking into account your income situation - via the registration fee.
We would like to point out that the regular price for such a workshop, if you want to make a living from it - as we certainly try to do - must be at the price mentioned above.
We cordially invite all those who can afford it to pay significantly more so that we can offer people with little or no income a reduced price.
Payment options - cash or by TWINT - will be available on site.

Is the event sold out on the ticket platform? Write to us! There may be a waiting list or another opportunity to take part after all.
