"BODYWORK & BODYTHERAPY" - THE PARLOUR - AN OPEN MASSAGE EXCHANGE SPACE FOR PROS & PRACTITIONERS

  • serrat(u)s bodywork - Zurich 40 Zwinglistrasse Zurich, ZH, 8004 Zurich, Switzerland (map)

THE PARLOUR
is an experimental format - inspired by free bodywork & play spaces such as the >> Bondage Jams - which is dedicated to the diversity of massage forms and the joy of practicing and experiencing them. THE PARLOUR is not intended for beginners and there are no classes. Rather, we would like to welcome more experienced and professional bodyworkers to create a place where getting to know each other and exchanging, giving and receiving, touching and being touched, experiencing and experimenting can be enjoyed away from work or training, further education and workshop contexts and health and healing goals.

THE PARLOUR is therefore a space for free, practiced exchange in the form of sessions in which all forms of massage and massage experiments are welcome. On some dates, we invite guests to give a short, approximately one-hour input as inspiration - if this is the case on this date, you will find more details below. In any case, the event is an opportunity for attendees to get to know each other, exchange practices and intentions, and then come together in constellations that suit their projects. There will then be at least three hours for the actual sessions, which everyone is free to organize as they wish.

We look forward to sharing the massage space with you!

BodyWork & BodyTherapy: What's the difference?

Bodywork, bodywork and body therapy are terms that have been increasingly used in recent years to describe body-oriented treatment approaches. Whether there are differences between the terms or even clear definitions too often remains unclear.

The input in this parlour addresses these ambiguities. Treatment differences between bodywork and body therapy will be practically explored and definitions of these two types of therapy will be put up for discussion.

FURTHER INFORMATION

EQUIPMENT AND MATERIAL TO BE BROUGHT ALONG

Futons measuring 160 x 200 cm are available in the studio. They do not have covers. The existing yoga blankets can only be used as covers if you are working largely clothed.

If you are working without or with very little clothing and if you are working with oil or other liquids and staining materials, you must bring your own covers, fixed sheets, waterproof or oil-proof sheets.

When using oil, additional secure bases and/or containers for the oil bottles must be brought and used. No oil may be spilled on the wooden floor. Anyone working with oil may only walk through the studio wearing socks to avoid leaving footprints.

There are also seat cushions, yoga blankets, yoga mats & Airex mats.

All other materials required for your own massage practice must be brought along.

ENTRANCE

The doors are only open at the times mentioned above. You do not enter the studio through the front door, but straight ahead through the high metal gate into the garden and then up a few steps through the large red door. Please take off your shoes outside and take them with you through the studio into the kitchenette and changing room.

SEX FRIENDLINESS

THE PARLOUR is only sex-friendly insofar as nudity, genitalia, arousal and pleasure - for example in the sense of holistic, tantric or Taoist concepts - may play a role; however, practices that pursue the goal of mutual sexual arousal and leave behind the roles of giving and receiving as well as "holding space" are not welcome at THE PARLOUR, unlike at many of our other events.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT OUR EVENTS

The aims of our events are to learn together as a group and support shared processes as well as personal development. Couples and all other types of partnerships or constellations are welcome, but you should be aware and open to the fact that the events are not designed as partnership experiences and that we address each person as an individual. An example: In order to include all participants equally, we usually work with random partner combinations during exercises. This means that there will be both the same and different gender combinations. Participants should generally be open to working with any person and any body. Exceptions can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

Gender identity, sexual orientation, age or membership of often marginalized groups such as BBIPoC, migrants, refugees, LGBTQIA*, disabled people, etc. are not criteria when registering and selecting participants. This means that, in principle, everyone is equally welcome and we endeavor to do justice to the respective constellation and different needs, but our resources are limited. If you have any questions in this regard, please contact us.

We expect you to be careful, communicative, consent-oriented and mindful and we encourage you to respect your own boundaries and self-responsibility. Hate speech will not be tolerated. Please bring "candy speech".

We reserve the right to ask participants to leave the event should their behavior be hurtful or too problematic, and we reserve the right to do so without explanation - although we will probably try to explain. The workshop fees will then be refunded in full. Further claims are then excluded.

You can read more about this topic here.
