FELIX RUCKERT
Felix is a dancer, choreographer, conceptual artist, and curator. He creates events, performs, gives lectures, and teaches workshops, often blending his expertise in dance with a unique approach to BDSM and conscious sexuality. He also enjoys making music.
He began his career as a dancer, working with several renowned companies (Mathilde Monnier, Pina Bausch’s Wuppertaler Tanztheater) before focusing on choreography, conceptual work, and choreographic installations. Between 1993 and 2008, he created more than 30 full-length performances for his Berlin-based company; some of these toured worldwide. He had a profound impact on the performing arts by extending the stage to the audience’s physical bodies and giving them an active role in his performances. His experimental dance pieces, his participatory work, and his choreographies for ballet companies earned him an international reputation as one of the most versatile and innovative contemporary choreographers.
Felix's main interests lie in the endless possibilities of the human body. He has studied ballet, modern and contemporary dance, improvisation, Feldenkrais, Pilates, Continuum Movement, yoga, qigong, kyudo, Tao Yoga, massage techniques, tantra, kinbaku, choir and solo singing, and much more. Over the past twenty years, he has become well known for his practical and theoretical exploration of BDSM and the connections between BDSM techniques and artistic practices, developing an art of touch and a philosophy of sensual communication.
Felix directs the IKSK (Institute for Body Research and Sexual Culture) in Berlin and curates the xplore festival and its international branches. He also curates the program for EURIX—The European Rigger and Model Exchange, a rope bondage festival held twice a year at Säälchen, Holzmarkt, Berlin.
