Once again, we have invited the internationally renowned kinbaku artists TAMANDUA & BRIKI. This time, they will be teaching a series of four workshops—the PROGRESSIVE SHIBARI SERIES—in Zurich. This is a great opportunity for the growing Swiss rope community to thoroughly explore and deepen their understanding of TAMANDUA’s particularly sophisticated style.
The series kicks off with a intermediate-level session on the weekend of July 7–9—this first course is designed for people who have just learned how to use suspension lines and a chest harness and have taken their first steps with them.
Then, every three months, TAMANDUA & BRIKI return to Zurich to introduce participants to more complex and challenging bondage techniques, ranging from suspension to transitions.
The courses can also be booked individually. Naturally, the prerequisites for participation increase from course to course. Each Friday will be a preparatory day focused on a specific topic and can be booked separately.
Save the dates! July 7–9 / October 6–8 / January 19–21 / April 12–14
See below for prices and booking.
Course language: English.

SATURDAY & SUNDAY - OCTOBER 7–8
Deep Focus Weekend - Part 2: Beyond the Basics of Suspension
The second in a series of four progressive skill-building workshops offered by Tamandua and Briki in Zurich every three months.
For the second installment of our progressive shibari series, we move beyond the very basics of suspension. Now that we’ve covered the basics, we’re ready to explore more techniques and insights to enhance our tying skills.
If you attended Tamandua and Briki's intensive weekend in July, you are automatically eligible to apply for this weekend. If not, please read the requirements below and apply with a brief description of your tying experience and prior rope training.
In this workshop, we will take our first steps into some of the more complex factors that determine a tie’s shape and impact, especially in the context of suspension.
What do we need to master—beyond securely attaching, pulling up, and locking a line—in order to create a suspended tie of a specific shape that is both pleasurable and safe?
Key points to focus on:
M-shape / spread legs in an upright position using Tamanduas TK
Torsion with legs tied together, and torsion with futomomo combined with Tamandua's TK or tengu
Gyaku ebi / Face-down backbend using the tengu and a hip harness
Topics for the weekend:
The choice of height and direction of the suspension lines determines the shape and outcome of a tie
Efficiency in managing uplines
The differences between clipping onto a bamboo pole or a carabiner/ring, and the differences when clipping onto main lines and secondary lines
Tying up loose ends from suspension lines quickly and neatly.
As with all the workshops in this series, the content will be taught from both the rigger/top and model/bottom perspectives. How to perform the tasks, how to interact, what to expect, what to watch out for, etc.
Requirements:
Riggers must have learned how to tie and secure suspension lines on a bamboo pole from an experienced rope instructor and know these techniques by heart.
Have prior experience with suspension from a TK. Or, if you're modeling this weekend, have been suspended from a TK.
Knowing how to recognize the signs of nerve damage and how to check for it during a fly-tying session.
Bring:
You need a set of ropes specifically designed for shibari: single-ply jute ropes that are about 6 mm thick.
At least 6 ropes, each cut to be about 8 meters long. And 2 random shorter lengths in case you need to add a little extra to finish a pattern.
Ropes from sex shops or hardware stores are not suitable for the type of tying taught this weekend. Ignoring this advice WILL put you at a disadvantage in the workshop. If in doubt, contact us for advice.

FURTHER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE EVENT
The goals of our events are collaborative learning within the group, supporting shared processes, and personal development. Couples and all other types of partnerships or group dynamics are welcome, but you should be aware and open to the fact that the courses are not designed as partnership experiences and that we address each person as an individual. For example: To involve all participants equally, we usually work with random partner combinations during the exercises. This means that both same-sex and opposite-sex combinations will occur. Participants should generally be open to working with every person and every body. Exceptions can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
Gender identity, sexual orientation, age or membership of often marginalized groups such as BBIPoC, migrants, refugees, LGBTQIA*, disabled people, etc. are not criteria when registering and selecting participants. This means that, in principle, everyone is equally welcome and we endeavor to do justice to the respective constellation and different needs, but our resources are limited. If you have any questions in this regard, please contact us.
We expect you to act with care, be communicative, prioritize consent, and be mindful, and we encourage you to respect your own boundaries and take personal responsibility.
Hate speech will not be tolerated. Please bring "Candy Speech."
We reserve the right to ask participants to leave the workshop if their behavior is hurtful or problematic, and we reserve the right to do so without explanation—though we will likely try to explain. Workshop fees would then be refunded in full. Any further claims are excluded.
You can read more about this topic here.
