ON FLOGGING & OTHER IMPACT PLAY

  • serrat(u)s bodywork – Zurich 40 Zwinglistrasse Zurich, ZH, 8004 Switzerland (Map)

regulations have been lifted in Switzerland – see below. –

The workshop offers an introduction to flogging and other forms of impact play, looking at techniques and issues of safety, as well as the physical and emotional processes of givers and receivers, and the relationship between pain and pleasure.

We sharpen our perception of the dynamic relationships that flogging and impact play create between body and mind and between the participants. Body awareness and spatial perception, movement and rhythm, impulse and resonance, breathing and presence - we look at the game from multiple aspects and thus create the possibility to design a flogging session as a dance or meditative ritual beyond just hitting.

How do different floggers and ways of hitting feel? What are my intentions in the game and how can I make them happen? What do I feel when I hit someone or let someone hit me? What supports communication in the game? How can I read my partner's reactions in a mindful and attentive way and integrate them into the game?

We approach these and other questions in exercises, demonstrations and practical sessions that offer plenty of space for individual experiences, for joint research, play, relaxation and pleasure.

NOTES ON THE EVENT

— The goals of our events are collaborative learning within the group, supporting shared processes, and personal development. Couples and all other types of partnerships or group dynamics are welcome, but you should be aware and open to the fact that the courses are not designed as partnership experiences and that we address each person as an individual. An example: To include all participants equally, we usually work with random partner combinations during the exercises. This means that both same-sex and mixed-sex combinations will occur. Participants should generally be open to working with every person and every body. Exceptions can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.
— Gender identity, sexual orientation, age, etc., are not criteria for registration or participant selection.
— We expect you to act with care, communication, consent, and mindfulness, and we encourage you to respect your own boundaries and take personal responsibility.
— Hate speech will not be tolerated. Please bring “candy speech” with you.
— We reserve the right to ask participants to leave the workshop if their behavior is harmful or problematic, and we reserve the right to do so without explanation—though we will likely try to explain. Workshop fees would then be refunded in full. Any further claims are excluded.
— We do our best to accommodate different needs, but our resources are limited. Please contact us if you have any questions.
