TAMANDUA & BRIKI – SENSUAL TYING – Part I of the “PROGRESSIVE SHIBARI SERIES”

  • sihl13 13 Lessingstrasse Zurich, ZH, 8002 Switzerland (Map)

Photo & Bondage: Tamandua I Model: Camillo

Once again, we have invited the internationally renowned kinbaku artists TAMANDUA & BRIKI. This time, they will be teaching a series of four workshops—the PROGRESSIVE SHIBARI SERIES—in Zurich. This is a great opportunity for the growing Swiss rope community to thoroughly explore and deepen their understanding of TAMANDUA’s particularly sophisticated style.

The series kicks off with a intermediate-level session on the weekend of July 7–9—this first course is designed for people who have just learned how to use suspension lines and a chest harness and have taken their first steps with them.

Then, every three months, TAMANDUA & BRIKI return to Zurich to introduce participants to more complex and challenging bondage techniques, ranging from suspension to transitions.

The courses can also be booked individually. Naturally, the prerequisites for participation increase from course to course.
Each Friday will be a preparatory day focused on a specific topic and can be booked separately.

Save the dates! July 7–9 / October 6–8 / January 19–21 / April 12–14

See below for prices and booking.
Course language: English.

FRIDAY – JULY 7

Sensual Bondage

It's no secret that shibari has a certain allure that draws in a large number of people. The aim of this class is to explore the erotic potential of floorwork.

Perhaps the most obvious aspect of attraction is the deliberate act of giving and receiving control, and the heightened state created by focusing one’s attention on that act. A type of attention often described as objectifying in both affectionate and cruel ways.

There are also the fetishistic qualities unique to rope: the way it grips and exerts force on the body, how it moves across the skin, and the positions we associate with a certain emotional charge.

We will teach a few relatively simple ties, using 1–4 ropes each, to explore the importance of choices in areas such as body manipulation and the quality of the rope’s “touch” in order to create and maintain sensual tension.

This workshop is not intended to dictate how you should feel or what dynamics an erotic bondage session should include, but rather to provide tools and inspiration for play.

Requirements:

  • Couples interested in rope play should be eager to explore sensual and intimate rope work together. For safety reasons, you should get to know your partner before the class so that you feel confident in your ability to communicate with each other.

  • People who tie ropes need to have a solid grasp of (at least) basic tying skills, such as being able to tie single-column knots, double-column knots, and simple harnesses without step-by-step instructions.

  • You may switch between exercises, but not within an exercise, so as not to rush through them.

Bring:

  • A set of single-ply jute ropes sold for shibari/kinbaku, approximately 6 mm thick. Includes at least 4 ropes, each about 7.5–8 meters long, plus 1 rope cut into a few shorter pieces.
Ropes from hardware stores or sex shops intended for bedroom bondage are not recommended!

  • Safety shears

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE EVENT

The goals of our events are collaborative learning within the group, supporting shared processes, and personal development. Couples and all other types of partnerships or group dynamics are welcome, but you should be aware and open to the fact that the courses are not designed as partnership experiences and that we address each person as an individual. For example: To involve all participants equally, we usually work with random partner combinations during the exercises. This means that both same-sex and opposite-sex combinations will occur. Participants should generally be open to working with every person and every body. Exceptions can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

Gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or membership in groups that are often marginalized—such as BBIPoC, migrants, refugees, LGBTQIA*, people with disabilities, etc.—are not criteria for registration or participant selection. This means that, in principle, everyone is equally welcome, and we strive to accommodate the specific circumstances and diverse needs of our participants; however, our resources are limited. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions regarding this.

We expect you to act with care, be communicative, prioritize consent, and be mindful, and we encourage you to respect your own boundaries and take personal responsibility.
Hate speech will not be tolerated. Please bring "Candy Speech."
We reserve the right to ask participants to leave the workshop if their behavior is hurtful or problematic, and we reserve the right to do so without explanation—though we will likely try to explain. Workshop fees would then be refunded in full. Any further claims are excluded.

You can read more about this topic here.

PRICES AND IF SOLD OUT

With our Low(er) Income Tickets, we want to give low-income individuals the opportunity to attend our events. We warmly invite those with higher incomes to help us make this offer possible by paying a higher fee. With this in mind, we thank you in advance for your solidarity.

For PEOPLE WITH VERY LOW INCOMES, there are usually even more affordable options available. Please don’t hesitate to contact us and ask. We’d love to have you join us!

Is the event sold out on the ticketing platform? Contact us! There may be a waiting list or another way for you to attend after all.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Cancellations are free of charge up to eight weeks before the course begins; a cancellation fee of 20% of the course fee applies up to four weeks before the course begins, and a cancellation fee of 50% applies up to two weeks before the course begins.
